Mentor System |
This system seeks to create a supportive environment in which students feel happy and secure. We believe that a student is more likely to succeed if they learn with this philosophy in mind. Students are divided into small groups and each group is allocated a teacher as their Mentor. Each group meets with their mentor on a daily basis.
Daily meetings between students and mentors create a close bond, providing students with someone in a position of authority who they can trust and turn to for advice. The mentor is responsible for monitoring the academic progress and individual welfare of each student.
A carefully planned programme of personal, social and moral education, with a focus on university application and career options in the upper years, is the basis of daily mentor sessions. Activities are planned on a weekly basis for all classes within a year group, focusing on the same issues to ensure uniformity.
Parents are encouraged to contact their son/daughter’s mentor regarding any concerns either academic or personal, should the need arise. Mentors can be contacted during their Office Hours.
