The Prefect System

The prefect system is a valued part of the Grammar School. It offers our Class 7 students the opportunity to serve their school community, while demonstrating leadership skills and a sense of responsibility.

At the beginning of each academic year, approximately 50 students from Class 7 are elected by the academic faculty. The voting criteria include a student’s contribution to school life, conduct and suitability for the position. Two students (one male and one female) from the elected group with the highest academic average are then appointed as Senior Prefects. The prestigious rank of Senior Prefect provides them with a place on the Student Committee of the School.

Specific roles are assigned which include monitoring the classrooms during break times, ensuring that all the students leave the building and behave in an appropriate manner. Prefects are also required to attend school functions and perform duties. The Prefects are coordinated by the Senior Prefects under the guidance of a Headmaster.
