Headmaster

Andreas Afamis is a 1976 Grammar School graduate.  He joined The Grammar School staff in 1982 after completing his studies in Engineering and Applied Science at Yale University on a Fulbright Scholarship.

Mr Afamis taught both mathematics and computers at school and during this time he also held key posts of responsibility as an Examinations Officer and Head of the Computers Department. Due to his many years of experience, he also advised students as an educational counsellor.

Throughout his time at The Grammar School, Mr Afamis also took the time to develop his academic profile through further study.  In 1997 he completed a post graduate Diploma in Organisational Behaviour at the University of London.  The following year he also completed a professional development course in Education Policy Analysis and Planning at Harvard University on a Fulbright short term grant. In the summer of 2000 he attended a workshop on Teaching Tolerance in the classroom in Nave Shalom, Israel.   Finally in 2004 he completed his studies in Educational Research at the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute.

As Headmaster of The Grammar School, Mr Afamis presides over the Headmasters Committee and is therefore fully involved in all the decisions pertaining to the smooth running of the academic aspect of the school on a daily basis.  He also liaises with parents, teachers and students on behalf of the school.  In addition, Mr Afamis supervises all the academic programmes as Head of the Examinations Committee as well as organizing the school timetable.
